Equal Rights for Black Americans

Black Americans gained equal rights in the USA with the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It was signed into law on July 2, 1964, by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The Civil Rights Act prohibited discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin and helped pave the way for greater equality and civil rights for Black Americans.
